Local Secondhand Market Digitizes

Ashok Vihar, Northwest Delhi’s posh residential complex, is also home to Delhi’s leading second-hand car market. As you descend the flyover of Ashok Vihar coming from GT Road side, you can see the pre-owned cars lined up on both sides of the roads. Everyday, these cars are washed to look like new ones but with increasing vehicular congestion, most of the customers do not feel like purchasing them. After all, they can’t expect a Bumblebee Autobot from every Chevrolet Camaro!

Being a resident of Ashok Vihar, I once happened to be a customer to Sahni Motors, next to Sagar Ratna. I exchanged my old Hyundai Getz with a second-hand Ford Fusion as my dad and I were a great fan of that Ford mini SUV. The car was handed to us in a very fresh condition. Although, the controls were plenty but some of them faltered, I enjoyed long hauls in that fuel guzzler. One has to agree to the fact that they do maintain the car pretty well after it has been disowned by its first seller.

Apart from medium-budget cars, the dealers also sell high-end cars like Audi, BMW and a few of them like Luxury Ride, also happen to have a second hand Hummer H3! Doesn’t that sound interesting? Their after-sales services are also very consumer friendly. Now with introduction of technology, the dealers are now digitizing their business. To keep up with the competition induced by online traders like CarDekho, First Choice and CarTrade.com, all the dealers now either have registered themselves with Just Dial’s online database or have made their own swanky websites and trying to promote their sales.

Most people think that it’s better to purchase a new car from the showroom than to purchase a second-hand and face issues with it. As a result, you might wonder that those dealers might be closing out soon. Well, I would like to disagree with that thought of yours because this market is slowly giving a tough competition to Big Boy Toyz in terms of the combined value of sales that is generated. Hence, it is another Make In India project in the making which will soon bear fruits.
