Know your customer before using social media.

When we talk about knowing your customer, it does not just necessarily mean being on a first name basis with them on email. That helps, but that’s not the end all and be all of it. True loyalty and relevance grows and develops when you understand what motivates your target audience and customers, it develops when they feel connected to the organisation and feel that you as a brand care for them as much as they care for you.
The end all and be all of knowing your customer comes down to a simple realization, either you live with the motto of serving them better, or you don’t, and trust us when we say that the customers can tell the difference.

So the next obvious question arises is how does one come to know their customer?

And the answer is as simple as it can get, and it has two keywords; Engage & Speak their language.

What one needs to understand that social media is a platform for connecting to people, and it becomes even more critical for a brand to connect with their customer and audience. The most important aspect here is understanding and learning how your audience engages with social media. Here’s how you can do that:

1.Do you know what your customers share? You can actually learn a lot about anyone once you know what they share on social media. For example, a person who share blogs about marketing & productivity means whether they have an expertise or not, but are definitely interested in these topics. This way you can analyse your target customer and present them with products of relevance to them.

2.Do you know who your customers follow? There are hundreds of ways that allow you to discover who and what your customers are following on social media. Analytical insights into a general following is essential since it allows you to create patterns that in turn allow you to cater to an audience that is relevant to your line of products and services.

3.Do you know how your customers engage with your content? Once you have a social media audience, you must keep them engaged with your brand. You can do this in several ways, by conducting a survey and asking your followers to fill it out, or you can go into deep analytics about the same. Many professional social media marketing firms can help you analyse your customers and create a loyal base.

Knowing your customers is probably the biggest step a brand can take while creating a relevant and successful online presence. It’s crucial so that you can target relevant customers, present your current customer base with the best and most relevant products and finally, create a dedicated and loyal satisfied customer base that serves both your brand and the public image of your brand.
